There is something so important about being comfortable with who you are and owning it. It isn’t always easy and something that we do from day one.. But the day that we do move into our “it’s me” comfort zone. It is beyond liberating.. It does not have a age requirement or a specific life changing event that makes it happen for some of us it just happens.
For me particularly, I wasn’t 100% me until I embraced my natural curlyish fro hair on beyond just the weekend. Which I will tell you all about my hair and my why on a later post.
But a few rules to live by when embracing YOU:
- Have values to live by: For me I have to have a foundation, first and foremost it is faith and belief. Followed by Honesty, trustworthy and kind.
- Create a brand and be consistent: Embrace who you are and what you stand for and stick with it. When I show up people know what they are going to get from me, high energy and honesty. I am the same person at home (maybe cuss a little more and rarely comb my hair) and in the real world.
- Be kind to yourself and others: We are the hardest on ourselves, be ok with making mistakes own up to them, learn from them and move on. Do not beat yourself up about nothing.. But don’t beat others up at the expense of being funny or thinking that you are funny. Words matter to people, you never know when your words can uplift others or how easily they can tear them down.
- Say what you mean – do NOT beat around the bush: One of the things that I am known for is just “saying it like it is” … Although that normally has a negative view, it doesn’t have to. It is all in the tone and the place that you are coming from. If you come from hastiness or rudeness then that is how it is received. But if it is from a place of good intentions and tone people will always appreciate that more.
Be YOU because everyone else is already taken
What would you tell your “younger” self?
